Older Hardware
Sometimes folks want to buy secondhand hardware from another person, or may already own an encoder from Thought Technology and are wondering if it will work.
Here are some guidelines:
If you already own a ProComp2 Unit:
Please be aware that some ProComp2 units are sold as encrypted. These will not work. Please contact Thought Technology for assistance.
If you only trained one channel in your old software you will now need two EEG inputs, so you will need to purchase a second pre-amp with an EEG din pin connector (the first EEG pre-amp is built in).
You also need a ProSB that works with the fibre-optic cable, if you don't have one.
You can purchase these items through us.
You will also need to check your dip switches are set correctly. To do this, take out the battery and peer into the chamber. You will see four little dip switches. The first must be in the DOWN position and the other three UP.
If you already own an Infiniti or a ProComp, you also will need a ProSB interface. If you can run Biograph in legacy mode, you are probably OK as it may mean you have a ProSB. You do NOT need to upgrade your amplifier.
The old ProComp Pluses MAY need to be upgraded.
We specifically recommend NOT using the EEG-Z pre-amps. They put a current into the client in order to do an impedance check. You have no need for this so it is an unnecessary hazard.
